THE PERUVIAN METEORITE

In the night of September 15, 2007, southern Peruvian skies were illuminated by the sudden appearance of an object that was descending until it crashed on the ground.

Following that, people who went to the place of the crash became sick and that triggered a lot of speculations about what was the thing that fell from the sky.

There were people talking about exposure to radiation and to space debris.

Nevertheless, as usual, science had the last word, and that last word left no room for more speculations.

What people saw and what was found in the crater was a meteorite.

Dr. Gonzalo Tancredi, Professor at the Astronomy Department of the Sciences Faculty, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and a member of our Group, sent us this scientific paper with the study done about this meteorite.
