WHY ALL THOSE MOVIES ALMOST TOGETHER? WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

At this very moment, on the screens of “a theater near you”, are two films dealing with aliens: “District 9” and “Aliens in the Attic”.

But if you go to see any of them, you will find the trailer of another film that is coming in November 6. It is called “The Fourth Kind” and as you can guess, it deals with abductions! Abductions supposedly happened in a small Alaskan town named Nome.

And if it were not enough, although there is not a direct connection with UFOs, but with ideas about the end of Earth, or the end of an age, there is “2012” which is coming on November 13.

Just for the sake of the argument, if we accept for a moment that there are aliens among us, and they have been doing things that paved the way to reports of
Daylight Discs, Nocturnal Lights, Radar-Visual Cases, and Close Encounters of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Kind, what could be the next step on this escalate?

Well, I think in only one: disappearance.

Not the disappearance of isolated individuals here and there, but the disappearance of nearly a whole small population, mainly in rural areas, at the beginning, followed by massive
disappearances in urban areas.

Do we have to be prepared for this kind of event? Would it be true or just mass hy
steria?

What really is behind this barrage of films about aliens?

What kind of reaction is expected from the public, and why?

I think we have to follow closely this situation and see how it develops.

“DISTRICT 9”: ABSURDITY AND BRUTALITY

Yesterday (August 23) I saw “District 9”. It is about aliens. Aliens that came to Earth 20 years ago and couldn’t go back because they have a problem with their spaceship.

Therefore, they left the big ship hovering over the sky of Johannesburg, and went down.

A world organization gives them a place to live, and there they are, living in a shantytown, until some problems emerge with the human population surrounding them, and they will be evicted and sent to a concentration camp, a move they resist.

There is when the problems start.

A stupid bureaucrat in charge of the operation, the brutality of soldiers trained only to kill, cannibalism, Nigerians exploiting the aliens, etc. and the unacceptable paradox of beings so intelligent to navigate through the space but so disorganized and ignorant as to live like irrational animals.

That is the absurdity of the script of this film. It is totally ridiculous.

On that basis, the rest are only special effects and brutality, weapons, more brutality and carnage.

That is what “District 9” is all about. I sincerely recommend skipping it of your agenda.

Don’t waste your time and your money.

ALIENS EXIST

I like to tie up the loose ends. I think it is a good practice, and sometimes, maybe, it gives significant results.

The situation could be described as “The return of Aliens” or, if it were the title of a book, “When Aliens Return”.

What am I talking about?

I will give you the facts, and maybe you also would like to tie up the loose ends.

This Summer, there have been cinema at the open air, in the evenings at the Washington Mall. A brand new activity that started showing “Close Encounters”.

Now “at a theater near you” there are to films to see: something for children, “Aliens in the Attic”, and something for adults, “District 9”, both dealing with aliens.

And, last but not least, the cover page of the latest edition of “Newsweek”, the well known American magazine, portrays the title of an article under the presumptuous title “Aliens Exist”.

Is someone trying to distract the American people from the problems of the recession, unemployment, the debate on health care reform, and other issues, or is someone trying to prepare the minds for certain unexpected revelation?

Maybe it is just entertainment and business as usual during Summer. But anyway, it is convenient to look at it closely. Just in case.

Here follows the article written by Fred Guterl, and published by Newsweek.

Aliens Exist

In Hollywood, extraterrestrials always seem to favor the grand entrance. They land on the White House lawn and implore us to end our violent ways (The Day the Earth Stood Still, 1951). They replace the citizens of a California town with listless pod people (Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956). They persuade Richard Dreyfuss to play with his mashed potatoes (Close Encounters, 1977). They even look like David Bowie (The Man Who Fell to Earth, 1976). Right now, in fact, two unrelated alien posses are invading theaters near you: the insectoid stars of District 9, who make their presence known by parking a UFO above Johannesburg, and the hyperactive green gremlins of Aliens in the Attic, who battle a group of plucky tweens over a Midwestern rental home. (Listen to Andrew Romano on our fascination with whether aliens exist.)

But even if E.T. exists off the silver screen, the chances that he'll discover us any time soon are vanishingly slim (Reese's Pieces or not). After all, projects like SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) have been waiting since 1960 for aliens to make contact—without hearing the slightest peep. The good news, however, is that some scientists are finally focusing on the other side of the equation: a series of high-tech missions designed to help us find them. And even at this early stage, the circumstantial evidence they've gathered has made it clear that we're probably not alone in the universe.

Here's what we know. In 1995, Swiss astronomers pinpointed the first-extrasolar planet. Unfortunately, it was a giant ball of gas orbiting so close to its sun that it glowed with enough heat and radiation to vaporize even the hardiest little green men. But at least the discovery proved that planets occurred outside our own cozy solar system. A few years later, "super-Earths" started to reveal themselves—smaller, firmer, at a discrete distance from their companion stars. Although these planets are much larger and less temperate than ours, they prompted some astronomers to estimate that perhaps half of the 200 billion or so suns in the Milky Way support terrestrial, Earth-like worlds.

We've also discovered that water, the essential ingredient for life, exists elsewhere in the universe—starting with our own solar backyard. Robots have spotted gullies freshly carved in the sides of Martian hills—evidence of recent upwellings. In June, astronomers observed geysers of water vapor on Enceladus, one of Saturn's moons. Even ghastly Jupiter is a candidate—or at least its moons Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa, the last of which may have oceans larger than ours hidden beneath its crust of perpetual ice.

The question now is how many of those 100 billion potential Earths can we reasonably expect to have harbored H2O and served as a cradle of life, intelligent or not? Enter Kepler, an ambitious new NASA mission. Launched via satellite in March, Kepler's $600 million space telescope uses a sophisticated photometer to stare at all 100,000 stars located in a particularly promising region of the Milky Way while measuring the size and orbit of every planet that passes in front of them. The larger the shadow, the larger the planet; the more often it appears, the closer the orbit. The point is to isolate for the very first time alien worlds orbiting alien suns at distances where temperatures are right for liquid water and possible life. "This mission is like Columbus," says principal investigator Bill Borucki. "We will get Earth-sized planets, terrestrial planets, in the habitable zone. It won't be 'close.' We will know."

The concept behind Kepler isn't new. Borucki—the sort of guy who skipped high-school projects to build elaborate UFO transmitters—constructed his first photometer in college; he started thinking about how to apply the technology to the search for extraterrestrial life shortly after arriving at NASA in 1962. It wasn't until the early 1980s, however, that Borucki began publishing papers on photometry and pushing his bosses to finance a photometric mission. Their response? It's impossible. Undeterred, his team slaved over the project for the next two decades, inventing new technologies, showing they could achieve the necessary precision, and applying for additional funding at every turn, until finally, in 2001, NASA "said uncle," as Borucki puts it. After only 10 days in orbit, the satellite measured a dip in starlight of a few parts per million caused by a distant Jupiter, proving that it's sensitive enough to detect Earth-like planets. By 2013, says Borucki, Kepler is likely to have located "hundreds or even thousands" of potentially habitable worlds.

Where we'll go from there is still unclear. But assuming that people are as fascinated by the discovery of real-life Earths as they are by, say, Will Smith fighting off alien invaders, we might launch a telescope designed to scan auspicious planets for the presence of CO2 and ozone, then invent a more intricate device to suss out whether these atmospheres contain isotopes of oxygen consistent with living systems. The final step, says Borucki, is "a probe that can travel near the speed of light and gets there, shows us pictures, listens to their radio stations and television stations, and gives us a much better understanding of this new planet."

We're not at the Star Trek stage yet. But given enough time and interest—and enough money—scientists believe the possibilities are limitless. "I've suggested nothing that we don't know pretty much how to do currently," Borucki says. "After Kepler, I cannot imagine people saying, 'I don't care about life. I don't care about these wonderful civilizations that might exist.' " So let the search continue—assuming, of course, that E.T. doesn't show up at the White House first.

LOS EXTRATERRESTRES EXISTEN

Me gusta atar cabos sueltos.

No será “cerca”.

“No he sugerido nada que no sepamos bastante bien cómo hacerlo actualmente”, dice Borucki.

RICHARD H. HALL HAS PASSED AWAY

December 25, 1930
July 17, 2009

It is with great sadness that we too report the passing of one of Ufology’s icons; Richard (Dick) Hall succumbed to Cancer on July 17, 2009, he was 78 years old.

Richard Harris Hall was born on December 25, 1930, in Hartford, Connecticut; in 1949, realizing that war was forthcoming, he spent two years with the newly borne Air Force, followed by six years in the Air Force Reserve.

Richard read Donald
Keyhoe’s The Flying Saucers Are Real (1950) while serving in the U.S. Air Force. After his service he took different jobs and moved around a bit, until landing at Tulane University, (New Orleans) in 1954. He initially majored in mathematics and then switched to philosophy.

While attending Tulane University (from which he attained a B.A. in 1958), Dick edited a small UFO bulletin called Satellite.
He also co-edited with Brazilian lawyer Dr. José Escobar Faría, the UFO Critical Bulletin during late fifties and early sixties.

From 1958 to 1968 he w
as secretary of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), which Keyhoe directed. That was the time where Dick was busy preparing monthly The UFO Investigator, which was NICAP’s bulletin.

In 1993 through 1998 Dick would serve as Chairman of the Fund for UFO Research; he was prolific writer, who authored a few books, s
ome which are considered hallmarks to Ufological research, e.g., with his latest endeavor being UFO Evidence, The UFO Evidence, Volume II: A Thirty-year Report, Uninvited Guests, with his latest endeavor being The Journal of UFO History, a monthly periodical detailing the annals of Ufology.

On December 6, 2004, UAPSG member Milton W. Hourcade visited Richard Hall in Maryland, where they enjoyed a nice conversation and quite gently Hall allowed Hourcade to see some of his files to check some data requested from Spain by UAPSG member Vicente-Juan Bellester Olmos.

Richard Hall sustained the ETH and above all was an extraordinary compiler of data related to UFO reports from official and private sources.

His dedication throughout the vast part of his life, his seri
ousness dealing with the issue, and the fruits of his work, will be remembered forever.

HA FALLECIDO RICHARD H. HALL

Diciembre 25, 1930
Julio 17, 2009-08-18

A LETTER FROM NORWAY

We have received a letter from Norway and by its content we consider important to share it with all our readers:

Greetings from Norway!

I wish to commend for the great work your members are doing. Your Web site is excellent and very informative.

Personally, I run the 'UFOs Found in Real TV Broadcasts' blogspot:

http://realtvufos.blogspot.com/

This blog presents UFO evidence recorded or obtained by any media or government source. In short, I research the 'real' and official UFO evidence. I present any UFO footage, which has been found in a real TV broadcast (or has been recorded by a media source), which has nothing to do with the UFO issue. In addition, I present any (worldwide) government UFO footage (or UFO evidence) and balanced UFO TV/Radio news media report.

Several very interesting Norwegian UFO cases are presented on my blog.

South American people must be very interested in the UFO phenomenon, because many of them have visited my blog.

Sincerely,

Alfred Røsberg (Al R), Norway (Scandinavia)

We have included this blog in our links.

Personalmente, yo llevo adelante el blogspot “UFOs Found in Real TV Broadcasts”

http://realtvufos.blogspot.com/

Sinceramente,

THE PERSEIDS METEOR SHOWER

Look up towards the North-East from 11 pm onwards on the nights of August 11th, 12th and 13th and 14th. After midnight, as Perseus rises higher into the sky, the numbers seen may well rise too! Most meteors are seen when looking about 50 degrees away from the "radiant" (the point from which the meteors appear to radiate from) which lies between Perseus and Cassiopea. (See the star chart below) The Perseid meteors are particles, usually smaller than a grain of sand, released as the comet Swift-Tuttle passes the Sun. The shower is quite long lived, so it is worth looking out any night from the 10th to the 15th of August. This last day could well be the best as the Moon will be rising later and be less bright. Good hunting!

ABOUT THE NONSENSE THAT MARS WILL BE SEEN AS BIG AS THE MOON

Leopoldo Zambrano Enríquez – a member of UAPSG/GEFAI wrote to us from Monterrey, Mexico, to let us know his excellent and lapidary study about what he calls “The Tale of the Red Moon”, that is, that nonsense that regretfully continues to appear at the Internet, that some people sent through e-mail and that –surprisingly— many unwary people ends to believe in.

We recommend the careful reading of the paper of our colleague Zambrano Enriquez.
It is only in Spanish.

You can find it at:
