FOTOCAT STATUS

Physically, FOTOCAT is an Excel spreadsheet of UFO and IFO cases in which a photographic image has been obtained on film, video or digital media. It contains 26 data columns to register the date, time, location, province and country, explanation (if one exists), photographer's name, special photographic features, references, etc. When completed, the full catalogue will be posted on the internet, for free access to the worldwide UFO community.

This is how begins the valuable report developed by Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos, the great investigator and scholar from Valencia, Spain, that has been published by the prestigious Fundación Anomalía.

We are pleased to share with our readers this material that for its deep analysis and significance within the serious and mature Ufology, is in itself unavoidable.

LA SITUACIÓN DEL FOTOCAT

Físicamente, FOTOCAT es una hoja de cálculo de Excel que recoge información de casos OVNI y OVI en los que se ha obtenido una imagen en fotografía, película o vídeo. Contiene 26 columnas de datos para registrar la fecha, hora, lugar, provincia y país, explicación (si existe), nombre del fotógrafo, características fotográficas especiales, referencias, etc. A su finalización, el catálogo completo se hará accesible desde Internet para la libre consulta de toda la comunidad ufológica mundial.

Así comienza el valioso informe elaborado por el gran investigador y estudioso de Valencia, España, Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos y que fue publicado por la prestigiosa Fundación Anomalía.

DISTRICT 9 - A new film about aliens

The "trailer" sets this argument:

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9 as the world's nations argued over what to do with them.

Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare - they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens' awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA.

The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable - he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

Besides the special effects, it could be good or a fiasco. The aliens look like "transformers". We'll have to see it.

DISTRITO 9 - Nueva película sobre alienígenas

El argumento del "trailer" dice:

Hace treinta años, alienígenas hicieron un primer contacto con la Tierra. Los humanos esperaron por un ataque hostil, o los gigantescos avances en tecnología. Nada llegó. En su lugar, los alienígenas eran refugiados, los últimos sobrevivientes de su mundo original. Las criaturas fueron puestas en una improvisada casa en el Distrito 9 de Sudáfrica mientras las naciones del mundo discutían qué hacer con ellos.

Ahora, la paciencia sobre los alienígenas se terminó. El control sobre los alienígenas ha sido dado a una empresa contratada, Multi-National United (MNU), una compañía privada desinteresada en el bienestar de los alienígenas, que va a recibir tremendas ganancias si puede hacer funcionar las imponentes armas de los alienígenas. THE LONGEST SOLAR ECLIPSE OF THE 21st. CENTURY

The total solar eclipse which just occured on the 22nd of July 2009 was the longest in terms of maximum totality duration of the 21st century – lasting over six and a half minutes.

The eclipse footprint started in India along the western shore near Surat moved towards Butan and reached the southern tip of Nepal and the northern edge of Bangladesh. For other lucky astronomers, the eclipse path also took the event over the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Suining, Chonging, Wuhan, Xiaogan, Hangzhou, and Shanghai – yielding five minutes of totality. Leaving Shanghai the shadow raced across the ocean to fall across islands such as Toshima and Akusaki south of Japan and eventually the Marshall islands.

Where did the longest time occur? The maximum eclipse duration of 6 minutes and 43 seconds was far off the coast in the Pacific Ocean.

EL ECLIIPSE SOLAR MÁS LARGO DEL SIGLO XXI

El eclipse total de sol que acaba de ocurrir el 22 de Julio de 2009 fue el más largo en términos de todalidad máxima de duración, del siglo XXI –durando más de seis minutos y medio.

El trazado del eclipsse comenzó en India a lo largo de su costa Oeste cerca de Surat, se desplazó hacia Bután y alcanzó la punta Sur de Nepal y el borde Norte de Bangladesh. Para otros afortunados astrónomos, el trazado del eclipse también pasó sobre las ciudades chinas de Chengdu,Suining Chonging, Wuhan, Xiaogan, Hangzhou, y Shanghai – brindando cinco minutos de totalidad. Dejando Shanghai la sombra cruzó a través del océano para caer sobre islas tales como Toshima y Akusaki al Sur del Japón y eventuamente las Islas Marshall.

¿Dónde ocurrió la mayor duración? La máxima duración del eclipse, 6 minutos y 43 segundos, tuvo lugar lejos de la costa, sobre el Océano Pacífico.

EARTH SIZE OBJECT HITS JUPITER

Scientists have found evidence that another object has bombarded Jupiter, exactly 15 years after the first impacts by the comet Shoemaker-Levy 9.

Following up on a tip by the Australian amateur astronomer, Anthony Wesley, a 44 years old computer programmer, that a new dark "scar" had suddenly appeared on Jupiter, this morning between 3 and 9 a.m. PDT (6 a.m. and noon EDT) scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., using NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility at the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii, gathered evidence indicating an impact.

New infrared images show the likely impact point was near the south polar region, with a visibly dark "scar" and bright upwelling particles in the upper atmosphere detected in near-infrared wavelengths, and a warming of the upper troposphere with possible extra emission from ammonia gas detected at mid-infrared wavelengths.

"We were extremely lucky to be seeing Jupiter at exactly the right time, the right hour, the right side of Jupiter to witness the event. We couldn't have planned it better," said Glenn Orton, a scientist at JPL.

OBJETO DEL TAMAÑO DE LA TIERRA CHOCA CON JÚPITER

Científicos encontraron evidencia de que otro objeto ha bombardeado Júpiter, exactamente 15 años después de los primeros impactos por el cometa Shoemaker-Levy 9.

Siguiendo el dato del astrónomo aficionado de Australia, Anthony Wesley, de 44 años, un programador de computadoras, de que una nueva “cicatriz” oscura había aparecido respentinamente en Júpiter, esta mañana entre la hora 3 y la hora 9 (hora del Pacífico), científicos del Laboratorio de Propulsión a Chorro de la NASA, en Pasadena California, usando el Telescopio Infrarrojo en el monte Mauna Kea, en Hawaii, obtuvieron evidencia indicando un impacto.

Brave men, wise scientists, great technology, and…political will.

Those were the well-blended ingredients that gave as a result the heroic deed of men walking on the Moon and returning safely to Earth.

40 years later, we should have already inhabited the Moon and gone to Mars.

We still owe that to the whole humanity, and to those that made possible that Moon landing on July 20, 1969.

Esos fueron los bien mezclados ingredientes que dieron como resultado la hazaña de hombres caminando en la Luna y retornando sanos y salvos a Tierra.

40 años después, ya deberíamos haber habitado la Luna e ido a Marte.

COMMENT ON “UFO HEADQUARTERS”

“UFO Headquarters – Investigations on Current Extraterrestrial Activity” by Susan Wright, New York, September 1998 (first edition), 271 pages, is a book ideal for someone that for the first time wants to know something about UFOs.

I think the second part of the title that talks about “extraterrestrial activity” tries to make the book more attractive. But the author does not speculate with aliens, and certainly is not in the line of the “ET proponents”.

The author dedicates great part of her book to deal with the issue of Area 51. But Roswell, abductions, and some other topics are also dealt with.

It is above all, an objective book and for that reason I do recommend its reading.

The author provides information and her approach is really balanced and realistic.

Susan Wright is not a Ufologist, but a writer who has published over 25 books since 1991 including many about the TV serial “Star Trek”, another book entitled “Destination Mars”, as well as science-fiction novels, self-help books and nonfiction books on art and popular culture.

COMENTARIO A “UFO HEADQUARTERS”

“UFO Headquarters – Investigations on Current Extraterrestrial Activity” (Central OVNI – Investigaciones sobre Actual Actividad Extraterrestre) por Susan Wright, Nueva York, Septiembre de 1998 (primera edición), 271 páginas, es un libro ideal para alguien que por primera vez quiere saber algo sobre los OVNIs.

Pienso que la segunda parte del título que habla acerca de “actividad extraterrestre” trata de hacer más atractivo al libro. Pero la autora no especula con alienígenas, y ciertamente no está en la línea de los “proponentes de ET”.

La autora dedica buena pate de su llibro a tratar el tema del Área 51. Pero Roswell, las abducciones, y varios otros temas también son tratados.

Por sobre todo, es un libro objetivo y por esa razón recomiendo su lectura.

La autora provee información, y su enfoque es verdaderamente equilibrado y realista.

Susan Wright no es una Ovníloga, sino una escritora que ha publicado más de 25 libros desde 1991, incluyendo varios sobre la serie de TV “Star Trek”, otro libro titulado “Destination Mars” (Destino Marte), así como novelas de ciencia-ficción, libros de auto-ayuda y obras de divulgación sobre arte y cultura popular.
