Balloons from Antarctica: be alert Southern Cone

In Antarctica in January, 2013 – the summer at the South Pole – scientists released 20 balloons, each eight stories tall, into the air to help answer an enduring space weather question: when the giant radiation belts surrounding Earth lose material, where do the extra particles actually go? This NASA-funded mission is called BARREL, for Balloon Array for Radiation belt Relativistic Electron Losses. 

Each balloon launched by the BARREL team floated for anywhere from three to 40 days, measuring X-rays produced by fast-moving electrons high up in the atmosphere. BARREL works hand in hand with another NASA mission called the Van Allen Probes, which travels directly through the Van Allen radiation belts. 

The belts wax and wane over time in response to incoming energy and material from the sun, sometimes intensifying the radiation through which satellites orbiting Earth must travel. Scientists need to understand this process better, and even provide forecasts of such space weather, in order to protect our spacecraft. Credit: NASA

Globos desde la Antártida: alerta Cono Sur

En la Antártida, en Enero de 2013  --el verano en el Polo Sur-  científicos lanzaron 20 globos al aire, cada uno del tamaño de un edificio de ocho pisos, para ayudar a contestar la persistente interrogante de la meteorología espacial: cuando los gigantescos cinturones de radiación que rodean la Tierra pierden material ¿hacia dónde van las partículas excedentes?  Esta misión financiada por la NASA lleva el nombre de BARREL por Balloon Array for Radiation belt Relativistic Electron Losses.(Dispositivo de Globo para Pérdida Relativística de Electrones en el cinturón de Radiación).

Cada globo lanzado por el equipo de BARREL flotó hacia cualquier lado durante 40 días, midiendo los rayos X producidos por electrones de rápido movimiento en la alta atmósfera. BARREL trabaja mano a mano con otra misión de la NASA llamada Sondas Van Allen, que viaja directamente a través de los cinturones de radiación Van Allen. 

Los cinturones crecen y decrecen a lo largo del tiempo en respuesta a la energía y material que llegan procedentes del Sol, intensificando a veces la radiación a través de la cual tienen que viajar los satélites que orbitan la Tierra. A PROFITABLE TRIP TO MEXICO CITY

It is undoubtedly a very special circumstance when three serious and responsible investigators and students of the Unusual Aerial Phenomena, can meet together to share experiences, worries, ideas and projects. Even better, when those people belong to the UAPSG-GEFAI and became friends.

And that is precisely what happened on May 20, 2013, when being in Mexico city I invited Eng. Luis Ruiz Noguez (blog: Marcianitos Verdes) and Licentiate Martín Fragoso (blog: El Detractor) to meet together with me.

It was really a memorable occasion. Our talk extended for 3 hours and a half, and at the end we all were pleased with the information and ideas we exchanged.

Surely there could be expected a follow up of this meeting. And that follow up would be in the shape of some specific actions. 

I thank Luis and Martin for coming and for all we talked in the occasion.

The following day, I met my friend and journalist César Buenrostro. He came with his camera, microphones and tripod, and decided to record outdoors.

He chose the surroundings of the Monument to the Revolution –at the very heart of the city-- to make me to do a stand-up presentation that lasted one hour, --without any break— while I tried to answer a dozen of questions he posed to me. 

All this material, once edited, is going to be uploaded to YouTube in his video series “Sígueme”. 

Thanks César for giving me the opportunity to clarify a lot of questions and issues related to the always thrilling world of UFOs.

UN PROVECHOSO VIAJE A LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

Es indudablemente una circunstancia muy especial cuando tres serios y responsables investigadores y estudiosos de los Fenómenos Aéreos Inusuales, pueden reunirse para  compartir experiencias, preocupaciones, ideas y proyectos.  Aún mejor, cuando esas personas pertenecen al UAPSG-GEFAI y han llegado a ser amigas.

Y eso es lo que sucedió precisamente el 20 de Mayo de 2013, cuando al estar en la ciudad de México invité al Ing. Luis Ruiz Noguez (blog: Marcianitos Verdes) y al Licenciado Martín Fragoso (blog: El Detractor) a reunirse conmigo.

Fue realmente una ocasión digna de ser recordada. Nuestra conversación se prolongó por 3 horas y media y todos quedamos satisfechos con la información e ideas que intercambiamos.

Ciertamente que se puede aguardar un seguimiento de esta reunión. Y ese seguimiento asumirá el carácter de ciertas acciones específicas.

Agradezco a Luis y a Martín por venir y por todo lo que conversamos en la ocasión.

Al día siguiente me encontré con mi amigo el periodista César Buenrostro. Él vino con su cámara, micrófonos y trípode, y decidió grabar en exteriores.

Eligió los alrededores del Monumento a la Revolución –en el corazón mismo de la ciudad--  para hacerme hacer una presentación de pie que duró una hora –sin ningún descanso--  mientras traté de responder a una docena de preguntas que me planteó.

Todo este material –una vez que esté editado— lo subirá a YouTube, en su video serie “Sígueme”.

Gracias César por darme la oportunidad de clarificar una cantidad de interrogantes y temas vinculados al siempre apasionante mundo de los OVNIs.

“Intelligenze Oltre La Terra” (Intelligences Beyond Earth): a must read book

It is not surprising that a man with a solid scientific Uformation and experience but also with a correctly open mind, (and when I say correctly, I mean, a mind that do not accepts anything as possible, but only what is reasonably possibly), astrophysicist Dr. Massimo Teodorani, have been capable of writing this book.

The book is composed of an Introduction, followed by 12 chapters and a bibliography.

Those chapters deal with:

Conclusive reflections.

Although there are certain graphics, equations and formulae, the book is of easy reading, very educative, and dealing with very important concepts that almost anyone can understand and absorb.

Precisely the clarity of concepts and the way they are presented is one of the best qualities of this book. 

I think it is a work that should be read by astronomers, investigators and students of UAP, and lay people seriously interested in the search for a non-human intelligence.

It is written in Italian, but in a near future there would be a translated edition into English.

I sincerely recommend it.
