UAPSG EXPANDS: NEW MEMBER AND COUNTRY INTEGRATING THE INTERNATIONAL GROUP

We warmly welcome Mr. Edgar Castro, as a new member of the UAPSG-GEFAI.

As a great observer of the sky, the UAP subject faced from the scientific point of view could not be absent from his interests and his didactic work.

We wish Mr. Castro a fruitful job in which a next step could be the founding of an Unusual Aerial Phenomenon Study Group in Guatemala.

Edgar Castro is Guatemalan, a Systems Engineer, and a graduate in Astronomy and Basic Astrophysics from the Galileo University of Guatemala.

He has been an astronomy fan for more than 50 years, highlighting among his most important observations the return of Halley's comet in 1986; the total solar eclipse of 1991 and the collision of Comet Shoemaker-Levy9 with Jupiter in 1994.

He was president of the Guatemalan Association of Astronomy for 17 years, he founded the Diploma in Astronomy at the Galileo University, where he is currently a professor and director of the same.

As a promoter, he has published more than 450 astronomy articles in various written media and in 2023 he was recognized as one of the best promoters in Latin America by Astronomers Without Borders and other entities. He is the author of the book "Curiosities of our universe" and considers himself curious about everything that happens in heaven.
