Flocks of “drones” have been flying over areas of New Jersey, where there are several important military installations, for days. Residents are wondering what is going on, and many are nervous.
The funny thing is that the State of New Jersey can't do anything on its own. It cannot shoot down a drone.
Who has jurisdiction in the matter is the Federal Aviation Administration, but this is a regulatory body in air traffic general, and it also has no direct jurisdiction to bring down a drone.
It is to be assumed that they are not spying devices of an adversary country, because in that case, they would have already been taken down. Then there are two possibilities: either they belong to some industry that does not make itself known in its devices, or they are experiences in tests of models belonging to the military.
The inhabitants of the areas overflown by the drones have said that these devices are large, and have compared their size to that of an SUV, a Sport Utility Vehicle. They average 4.50 meters in length.
